HMNH welcomes opportunities to develop NSF research-related outreach programs with University researchers

The Harvard Museum of Natural History has partnered successfully with faculty from OEB and EPS to develop outreach programs that address NSF Criterion II (broader impact) and similar research funding requirements. These programs have included lectures and lecture series, available via podcast; exhibition components suitable for onsite display and travel to other venues; and K-8 educational programs with onsite and distance learning components.

With a mission to present Harvard science, the museum welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with researchers across the University in developing proposals that enhance funding opportunities and provide innovative ways of communicating both the process and results of current research to a broad audience.

The Harvard Museum of Natural History hosts more than 175,000 visitors annually from Cambridge and Boston, the region, and around the world. Attendance includes 30,000 school children and teachers visiting in groups and more than 3,000 adults who attend free lectures offered throughout the year. The museum has a close relationship with the Cambridge Public Schools and offers professional development for teachers as well as programs for students.
