Harvard joins Love Your Block, annual city clean-up effort
For the past 17 years, Harvard staff and students team up each spring with neighbors in Allston for the annual Love Your Block event, (formerly known as Boston Shines).
Dozens of volunteers helped paint, clean, rake leaves, sweep sidewalks, lay mulch and plant flowers in various locations across the neighborhood.
Schools and departments from all corners of campus were represented at this year’s event — including the Harvard Divinity School, the Graduate Commons Program, Harvard Real Estate, Harvard Recreation, the Harvard Varsity Club, Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS), Campus Services, Allston Initiatives and Harvard Public Affairs and Communications.
“As always, this is a great way for so many of us to continue to take pride in our community while spending time with friends, neighbors, and colleagues in a fun and impactful citywide civic engagement program,” said James Barrows, Harvard’s associate director of community relations. “So many of us look forward to this every year, and I’m thrilled to see such amazing turnout once again!”
