Hip hop artist Tef Poe to perform at Harvard Ed Portal

Internationally acclaimed hip hop artist Tef Poe will perform his latest album, “Black Julian,” live at the Harvard Ed Portal on Saturday May 20 at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Born and raised in Saint Louis, Poe got his start as a battle rapper and has grown his musical stylings to become an agent for social change. His music reflects the multidimensional and complex human experience, combining social commentary with the stylings of hardcore hip hop. Poe uses his platform to address the political climate of today while also offering uniquely high-energy stage performances. “Black Julian” is a sonic blend of trap music, soul music, rock-n-roll, and R&B. Poe has worked with musicians such as Lupe Fiasco, Common, and Talib Kweli. Outside of music he actively works with human rights groups such as Hands Up United, Amnesty International, and Organization for Black Struggle.

Tef Poe is a 2016-2017 fellow at the Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History at Harvard University.
